National Firearms Act
The National Firearms Act was the first major effort to eliminate the private ownership of firearms. the Act was in direct response to the rise in gangster violence throughout the country. one of the main conflicts was the Saint Valentines Day massacre. the National Firearms Act sought to control firearms through a tax($200 per gun sale). the Act targeted fully automatic weapons, short barreled shot guns and rifles, and other guns considered "gangster guns"
